Academy Award winner, Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg lead an all-star cast in 2 Guns, an explosive action film that opens at the cinema this weekend.
It tracks two operatives from competing bureaus who are on the run. But there is a big problem with their unexpected partnership. Neither knows that the other is an undercover federal agent. They are both armed and this is perhaps where the title, 2 Guns, comes from.
So, a little more about the plot, according to the movie’s official website, www.2guns.net, DEA agent Robert ‘Bobby’ Trench (Denzel Washington) and US naval intelligence officer Michael ‘Stig’ Stigman (Wahlberg) have been reluctantly attached at the hip, for a full long year. Working undercover as members of a narcotics syndicate, each man distrusts his partner as much as the criminals they have both been tasked to crack down.
When they try to infiltrate a Mexican drug cartel and recover millions, Bobby and Stig are suddenly disavowed by their respective superiors. Now that everyone wants them in jail or in the ground, the only person they can count on is the other.
“Unfortunately for their pursuers, when good guys spend years pretending to be bad, they pick up a few tricks along the way,” the site says.
The movie is based on the dark comic-book by the same title, authored by Steven Grant. Movie critic Lisa Kennedy of Denver Post writes that 2 Guns lives up to its title with noisy shootouts.
