On Monday, renowned radio expert Joel Isabirye challenged the minister of Gender Labour and Social Development to arrange a state welcome for Mowzey and Weasel at State House.
Isabirye backed his proposal with an argument that, “Although they did not come back with an award, the nomination was like qualifying for international games. The creative economy has to be looked at as one of the sites for national transformation!”
Just like so many people who shared the same idea as Isabirye, singer Bobi Wine also put in his word. The singer who is friends with the duo praised them for doing what any artiste would have loved to do for Uganda.
Then Bobi immediately attacked the media for, “Giving the glory of GoodLyfe’s BET awards nomination a conspiracy of silence, as if they (the media) would have wanted to see the glory go elsewhere!”
And he was not done yet. The Fire Base crew leader went ahead to put down his thoughts, “You made history, you have played your part, you certainly deserve a hero’s welcome. You deserve tax holiday from the government and most of all you deserve respect!”
Bobi was not done yet. He summed his good words with a statement that will have everyone wonder what he was either sipping or puffing. “I will slaughter a pig for you when you come back!”
Bobi seriously! You want people to be accorded a hero’s welcome and you slaughter a pig for them? Should this explain why you didn’t even read all the stories about Mowzey and Weasel’s road to BET that was well covered by Sqoop?
