This music video matches its audio- it is super visual madness. You can’t stop laughing while watching Ragga Dee’s Balalu video. It gives you that uncontrollable laughter, right from the beginning. Shot by Free State Cinema, the video takes off with some Ugandan traffic policeman pulling off Michael Jackson dance strokes. To rubberstamp his insanity mode, Ragga Dee has one side of his jeans folded as another man with a biker’s helmet mimics the bike ride.
Perhaps to prove that Ragga Dee is indeed short, he went ahead to fit in a flower pot (talk of a Butabika prefect). I could not help but giggle at the beer-bottle drip, and the stethoscope that was used to test the heart-rate of the men in leopard skin attires. One thing is guaranteed in this video, that is entertainment and visual acrobatics.
The storyline is well-scripted and executed, straight from the coffin seller who prays for more customers to the event promoters who ask God to withhold the rain.
However what I don’t like about the video is that as in much as it had to stress the point of madness, there had to be some organisation of shots, it somehow gets so crowded, the illustrations are over-done and it makes the video lose the professional touch.
If you are really crazy, if you’ve ever done something weird, if you’ve ever acted insane, this video is for you to watch. It will help you identify with your mad colleagues just like the guy who reviewed it. This video will make you believe that everyone is mad, it’s our rating that differs.
