Artistes pay tribute to fallen singer Elie Cham

Last Saturday, Uganda lost yet another artiste, Elly Kyambadde aka Elie Cham who died after he allegedly fell out of a colleague’s moving car as they tried to drive him back home.

“He (Elie Cham) was tired and his friends insisted to take him home but he didn’t want. So they managed to put him in the car and decided to drive him home. But as they approached the American Embassy in Nsambya, Elie opened the door and jumped out of the car. He fell so hard and didn’t make it,” said Joy Tumusiime aka Empress, an upcoming artiste and the late singer’s sister.

Elie Cham was not one of the big names on the music scene but he was one of those aggressive yet talented upcoming artistes. Elly Cham traded partly under Eddie Kenzo’s Big Talent crew but he was very close to dancer Ronnie Stamina (famous for introducing the Stamina dance moves).

Ronnie and Elly Cham are the duo behind the famous Sankalewa remix that they released sometime last year. The duo also had another song titled Empere in which they tried to introduce another dance style called Empere.
Elie Cham was laid to rest in Lugazi on Sunday. However, Empress and Big Talent musicians held a rememberance night for the singer at Hi Table bar last Monday night where several artistes went and paid tribute to him. Rest In Peace, Elie Cham!
