The DVD:Vantage point

Vantage point

Vantage point

I    had a soft copy of this flick, so before watching it, I could only judge it by the title. It didn’t strike as an action movie and a good one at that. A group of assassins are out to prove to Americans that a war can break out without them being a step ahead of the enemy. The ultimate goal is to capture the US president. The plot is done in a clever way by retelling the story of an assassination attempt from a different set of vantage points.

It is intriguing as it involves lots of suspense. You can’t take your eyes off the screen. Meanwhile, all the drama is being broadcast on TV – it comes off like a scene from the series The Newsroom. But what might amaze you the most is the level of technology used. It is incredible. It’s for the generation after the next I tell you. Using a phone, Suarez (Saïd Taghmaoui), makes the curtain shiver to distract the guard’s attention. With the same phone, he commands a gun to shoot while about 100 metres away, creating a virtual shooter and diverting the guards as expected. The same phone is used to encourage a suicide bomber to carry on and later send him to his maker and also perform the ordinary innocent roles of making and receiving calls.
