The fighter
This movie is set in the earlier days of kick boxing when the sport was such a big deal. It is an interesting movie. It tells a tale of two brothers Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg) and his older brother Dicky Eklund (Christian Bale).
Micky the amateur boxer is a darling and Dicky the pro is a jerk. Micky’s journey to the top is slowed down by his brother who is supposed to train him but never keeps time affecting Micky’s progress. Micky is forced to find another trainer but when he gets to the ring, it is the things he learnt from Dicky that save him from losing the games. He ends up in a situation where he has to choose between family and his career. In an action packed format, The Fighter teaches lessons about hard work, family, love and drugs. And the fact that it is based on a true story makes it worthwhile.
