OBUDDE. RADIO AND WEASEL

I  must confess that this video captivated me right from the start with its funny choreography.  It begins with a comical boy who stretches out his arms showing a real lazy bone character.  Without even showering, like most schoolboys, he puts on his school uniform and rushes to school only to find the examination already in progress.   Frank Ja has indeed perfected the art of directing music videos and making sure such scenes are executed in a super hilarious way.

The video has three aspects that make it stand out; the colorisation, the choreography and the dance strokes. The colour and lighting is regulated for each shot. The choreography brings out the message and illustrates the notion of time not being on anyone’s side. For example, the boy who sat for the paper later than the others ended up with an F because he played with time.  He arrives late for an exam then spends more minutes sharpening his pencil.  As in most Goodlyfe videos, the dance strokes are always rehearsed, they move in rhythm to the audios and enhance the visuals.
Location is perfect and well planned. I like the part of the doctor who delays to attend to the patient because he is busy on his phone.

The video however is deficient when it comes to close up shots of the artistes.  Then the scene where the girl knocked on the door of her boyfriend and found out that she had been replaced with someone.  It was not well executed. We missed seeing the girl’s reaction.
The aerial shots were more of a flop. No wonder they didn’t fit in well with the rest of the scenes. The lighting may have been good but at some moments, they lost it. The video is a bit dark though such moments are short-lived.
The Obudde video won’t bore you. The visuals strip bare the effects of time wastage making it an interesting video to watch…for Bebe Cool.
