Stand Up Africa, a comedy show, that brings together Africa’s finest comedians was announced for on Friday, Febraury 1 and Saturday, February 2 at the Lyric Theatre in Gold Reef City, Johannesburg. The show follows a successful and sold out first installment in 2011.
But unlike 2011, where Uganda was not represented, this time round, Uganda will be represented by our very own Patrick Idringi aka Salvado!
Run under the theme Uniting Africa in Voice, Expression and Laughter, this event seeks to build on the momentum generated by the first show in 2011 and coincides with the Africa Cup of Nations that will be taking place in South Africa around the same time.
Stand Up Africa 2013 will also have another Ugandan in David Kibuuka, who is based in South Africa, as a correspondent on Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola, and will see the biggest names that African comedy has to offer with the line up having Daliso Chaponda from Malawi, Nigerian superstar Basket mouth, Carl Joshua Ncube from Zimbabwe, Eric Omondi from Kenya as well as South Africa’s Kagiso Lediga.
Stand Up Africa has become one of the most important comedy brands to emerge from the continent, and as he heads to South Africa, Salvado already applied to have an edition of the show in Uganda later this year. Other countries including Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Kenya also requested to host the show.
