We would like to announce that the Crackers comedy group who haven’t been holding shows since early December finally sat down and resolved their differences. Rumours about the group splitting up started making rounds sometime last month after the group stopped their shows at Theatre Labonita. According to insiders, although the group alleged they were taking a break, there were internal wrangles that forced them to halt shows.
According to a reliable source, the group were divided on whether to follow manager Jonathan Kyeyo or founding member and CEO Patrick Idringi aka Salvado.
“The CEO had issues with the way money from sponsors was being handled by the manager. When he was pressed, Kyeyo revealed that he had invested the money in the new Laftaz Comedy Park at Centenary Park, but even then he said the Crackers had only 10 per cent shares in the venture,” said the source. Kyeyo then asked the Crackers to move their weekly show to the new venue, which was met with resistance, causing a temporary break the shows.
He however managed to convince a few comedians including Dolibondo, Cotilda, Emma Sebakigye and Kelekele to go on with the show that was being held at Laftaz every Wednesday. Idringi talked to the rest of the group and they agreed that the weekly Mic Check shows would remain at Theatre Labonita causing a rift.
Good news is that after a meeting, the group is now back together and they will continue holding their shows at Theatre Labonita.
“We have agreed that the weekly Mic Check comedy shows will be held at Theatre La Bonita and not Laftaz Bar in Centenery park,” Idringi told Sqoop.
As such, the difference about the venue for the shows was resolved. We are yet to know whether the issues between Salvado and Kyeyo were also resolved!
