The track : PARTY ON MY MIND – CLEOPATRA KOHEIRWE

This is a good attempt from someone who has stuck her fingers into many marmalade jars (you have not forgotten that she’s featured in movies, in theatre and on radio, now have you?). It’s not a stellar song, but yes, it is appreciable.

Party On My Mind, like the title suggests, is a light-hearted merry-go-lucky worry-free kind of song. It is about the good time and how to have it. Cleopatra sings about how she has got her girls and they’ve all got their outfits, and they’ve all got their hair done, and their shoes are all looking lovely, and, what’s to say, they are all rushing to the club with the party on their mind. Woo!

And that is exactly where this song belongs – the night club, or the beach party where you let all loose without a single care in the world. You will be in the wrong place if you are listening to this song in search of intellectual stimulation or emotional enrichment. It is not the kind of song from which you will expect your children to draw serious lessons about life, except if they are connoted.  It’s just a simple little song (less than three minutes long – with a great part of that spent on refrains) that does not say much, but gets you dancing. And maybe one needs that every once in a while.
