It is not so often that Chameleon is reduced to a curtain raiser. The self acclaimed “doctor” and truly the poster boy of East African music will be reduced to the John the Baptist role who paved the way for Christ- during Sean Paul’s gig on November 9 at the Cricket Oval courtesy of Club Music. But even in that role, Chameleon will be one of the crème de la crème of local musicians so privileged to share a stage with the Jamaican dancehall kingpin.
And this adds to his glowing CV. After all only a handful of musicians made the cut. The Good Lyfe crew Moze and Weasel, Jackie Chandiru and Navio have also been penned in to share the stage with the platinum selling Jamaican. This, like we have seen in the past, will grant Chameleon and the others a chance to scheme for a collabo with Sean Paul. Twice the Jamaican has been here and has mesmerised us but no local artiste has nailed him down for a song…not even his signature lines “so mi go so then” or “dutty yo”. Hope they will be sharp this time round.
