Juliana wins BEFTA award

Juliana

Juliana

She might not have as many hits as she did a few years back, but Juliana Kanyomozi surely does still command a lot of respect in the music circles! Even without holding a mega concert in a long time, Juliana still managed to beat several African stars including our countrymateJose Chameleone to win the Best International Afrobeat Act award in the competitive Black Entertainment, Film, Fashion, Television and Arts Awards (BEFFTA) held in the United Kingdom at the weekend.

Besides Jose Chameleone, Juliana was up against Africa’s biggest acts including WizKid, D’Banj, Fally Ipupa, Wande Coal, Ice Prince, Sarkodie, Nameless, Itz Tiffany, Zahara, Iyanya, and Nonini. Juliana couldn’t hide her excitement towards such a milestone as she posted on her face book wall; “Hey family, we won the BEFFTA award yessss! Thank you for all the support u showed thru your votes. I couldn’t have done it without you. Uganda, East Africa, You did it.”

BEFFTA awards recognise and reward individuals who have excelled in different areas of entertainment. The awards categories include music, dance, DJs, photography, fashion, modeling, film, comedy, media personalities, events, art and poetry among others. Personalities nominated in any categories have to be based in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean.
