It’s the first Ugandan song to be aired on Trace TV and it is currently Number 4 on their official top 10 countdown. Now who honestly is the real big size? The one who is number one on an FM based in Bukoto called Radio Simba Fa Ma or the one whose is number one on an international TV music channel?
The song is even being played on BBC One Extra…! Keko has what it takes to stand out in this crowded music scene of Uganda that lacks originality, direction and creativity. However if she thinks she’s the bomb, then that will be the start of her downfall. Yes humility as a musician, especially when you are on the rise is one of the keys to longevity in the music biz! Ya heard Keko?
Currently her music journey is being mapped out by this young producer by the names of Just Jose. He understands today’s young generation in terms of music production and song approach. He could be considered as the future of Ugandan urban music. But…yes there is always a ‘but’, if Just Jose falls into this “”I know it all” zone then his stuff will be worse than that of the guy who produces Ronald Mayinja’s jams!
He needs to remain unpredictable and know which artiste can add something to Keko’s music and one who simply can’t. He needs to be daring in his production too.
Enough of the lectures, straight to the video. It was shot in Nairobi by Clarence Peters, a reknown Nigerian director who is responsible for shooting Camp Mulla’s Party Don’t Stop.
It could be one of the best videos of this year… the camera angles, storyline costumes and colour were on point. Keko has set her bar high hopefully she maintains it. Just a quick question though; who is dating that babe? If she has no guy….can someone give her my number!
