The ads promised that this year’s Buzz Teeniez Awards would be a game changer. And that they were in that the venue changed, though this time the crowd was smaller than it usually is.
Teens fresh from school for the holidays headed to the Garden City rooftop, where they got their five minutes of fame on the red carpet. Some teens made the most of their red carpet moment by dressing in the craziest outfits.
One guy was dressed as a cleric, complete with a Bible, another in a gomesi and another went for an Al-Shabab look, which attracted security’s attention so it worked for him, and the girls pulled out every fashion trend in the book; colour blocking, belts, fedoras, and even some fashion no-nos like fish—net stockings in broad daylight.
Apart from the emcees, who kept on shouting into the microphones, the event was a blast for the holiday makers. It did not beat past BTAs but the afternoon especially, saw the teens enjoy music from Toniks, Cindy, Exodus, and Chameleone, whose performance was backed up by Wickedest DJ award winner, DJ Shiru.
The teens must have sent in a special request to the rainmaker because even when it threatened to rain, the skies stayed put. The day’s biggest winners were Mun G and Exodus who got four and three awards respectively.
