Fashion designer Sylvia Owori has started an initiative to empower disadvantaged women through what she knows best – fashion.
She is organising a fashion show dubbed ‘Forever Love’ on Friday March 23, with several of the
pieces made from recycled denim and sewn by women in community based projects.
“The Forever Love fashion show is a new concept that I have come up with under my Sylvia Owori Foundation. We are creating jobs and empowering women through fashion,” said Owori.
“We have a workshop set up in Mukono with 50 women making bags, shoes and accessories and our objective is to mainly find international companies to place orders. Fortunately, we are already working with two international companies from the UK, Owori added.
These items will be showcased in the fashion show to be held at UMA show grounds. Entrance will be Shs50,000 for ordinary seats and Shs80,000 for V.I.P seats.
