BIG TUNE: Sitya Loss has earned Eddy Kenzo fans from different parts of the world. Edgar R. Batte talked to the singer about his show that is on this evening.
Singer Eddy Kenzo is live in a concert dubbed Nice and Lovely Sitya Loss at Kati Kati Bar & Restaurant, on Lugogo By-pass. The show is expected to kick off at 7pm this evening. The show comes at a time when the singer is in the news for beating up a journalist, Isaac Katende commonly known as a Kasuku, of Dembe FM. Actually, Kezo called a press conference to announce the concert last Thursday and it ended prematurely after his scuffle with Kasuku.
Kenzo, born Edirisa Musuuza, is apologetic about what ensued that day, when he lost his cool and rained blows on Kasuku, whom he said he has personal differences with.
“I am not a fighter but I reacted in front of everyone and I am sorry for that and I ask for everyone’s forgiveness. Kasuku is no longer attacking me personally but he is fighting my career. He has abused me for about four years. I am not blaming him for criticising because that is his job but I felt offended when he attacked me in front of other journalists. I was hurt because he was accusing me of falsehoods,” Kenzo explains.
Kasuku says he has nothing personal against Kenzo and was only doing his job as a journalist. He says he has already met with lawyers in an effort to get justice.
Kenzo says he has recordings of Kasuku abusing him both on air and off air.
He says he is going ahead with the concert where revellers will part with 10k for ordinary tickets and 30k for VIP tickets.
Sitya Loss is a title track to his eight-track album including songs like Neyanziza, Tonkoya, Nkungula, Sitya Loss, Nice and Lovely, Jamboree and Tayina Shida. He has four other albums to his name- Musonyiwe, Yanimba, Stamina and Ogenda Kunzisa.
Solid band will back up the artiste and Vibes Productions will provide sound.
“I expect to kick off my performance at 7.30pm. I would like to sing as many songs as possible before it clocks midnight. We have lined up 35 songs. I want to give the best to my fans. Expect entertainment,” Kenzo said.
Sitya Loss has earned Kenzo fame beyond Uganda and the region. He has just returned from Tanzania and the US. The song became popular because of the choreography exhibited by the children in the video, which caught even the eye of top rapper P-Diddy.
The singer last week won the Afro Australian Music & Movie Awards award in Australia and he was also nominated in the forthcoming Channel O Africa Music Video Awards all thanks to his Sitya Loss hit. He will also perform at Satelite Beach Mukono tomorrow.
